Variety: Zinfandel
Vintage: 2006
Production: 448 Cases
Price: $28.00
New Release!
Fans of Calcareous Zin won't be disappointed with yet another terrific example of Westside Paso Zinfandel. The Zinfandel comes from an 11 arce parcel we farm known as Kate's Vineyard in Kiler Canyon. While there are some differences from vintage to vintage, this wine is always immediately recognizable, showing true varietal character and a spicy note of black pepper. We've been growing this fruit since the 2002 vintage, and some years are more fruit driven, while others show more earth and spice. We think you'll find the '06 to be well balanced.

Variety: Lloyd Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage: 2006
Production: 269 Cases
Price: $50.00
New Release!
Estate grown and bottled. This is truly a debut as Calcereous unveils its first Estate Cab planted by our founder Lloyd "Moose" Messer. It is dark and opaque in color with smoky, spicy, very dense cassis bouquet. The aromas have developed nicely with rich black plum notes and a waft of vanillin. As rich as this cab is, it shows immediate lively juiciness - think fresh black cherries. Tannins are firm, but the structure is supple enough to enjoy right now.

Variety: Syrah
Vintage: 2005
Production: 781 Cases
Price: $34.00
Limited Supply 2005 was a unique season in many ways. Most of the vineyards had a pretty tough time of it for the past 3 years with very little annual rainfall. The heavens opened up in 2005 allowing the soils to be revitalized and the vines to rebound with abundant spring growth. It was a year for careful vineyard manipulation and irrigation timing. The major issue was crop management. With this in check, we were able to produce wines with wonderful varietal fruitiness. The 2005 Syrah is magenta red and purple in color. Dark fruits such as blackberry and cherry dominate the bouquet, complimented by a touch of oak spice and nutmeg. *90 points The Tasting Panel, 2009 Grande Taste of Paso Robles.
